A calm arrival, slow acclimation, and stable water matter more than chasing a perfect number. Follow this guide before opening the bag.
Arrival and acclimation
Slow changes prevent unnecessary stress.
Complete the acclimation without rushing. If the shrimp show signs of severe distress during the drip, prioritize moving them into clean, stable aquarium water.

Inspect before opening
Check the unopened bag immediately. If a shrimp appears deceased, take clear photos of the sealed bag before continuing.

Temperature match
Float the sealed bag for 15–20 minutes away from direct aquarium lighting.

Begin a slow drip
Move the shrimp and shipping water to a clean container, then drip aquarium water into it slowly for 1–2 hours.

Transfer without shipping water
Gently net the shrimp into the aquarium. Do not pour shipping water into the tank.

Keep the first day quiet
Dim the lights, avoid feeding for the first 12–24 hours, and give the shrimp time to settle.

Amano shrimp note
Amano shrimp do best in a mature aquarium with established algae and biofilm. They tolerate a useful freshwater range, but stability still comes first. Cover filter openings and gaps because Amanos are capable climbers.

Our colonies graze continuously on mature surfaces. Prepared food supplements that ecosystem; it does not replace it. Feed lightly and remove food that remains uneaten after two to three hours.

Keep lighting subdued, avoid unnecessary maintenance, and wait before offering prepared food.
Look for grazing.
As stress decreases, healthy shrimp should begin exploring surfaces and grazing normally.
